In a wardrobe were many green dresses (в гардеробе /висело/ много зеленых платьев), made of silk and satin and velvet (сшитых: «изготовленных» из шелка, атласа и бархата); and all of them fitted Dorothy exactly (и все они идеально подходили Дороти /по размеру/; exactly — точно).

It was the sweetest little room in the world, with a soft comfortable bed that had sheets of green silk and a green velvet counterpane. There was a tiny fountain in the middle of the room, that shot a spray of green perfume into the air, to fall back into a beautifully carved green marble basin.
Beautiful green flowers stood in the windows, and there was a shelf with a row of little green books. When Dorothy had time to open these books she found them full of queer green pictures that made her laugh, they were so funny.
In a wardrobe were many green dresses, made of silk and satin and velvet; and all of them fitted Dorothy exactly.
"Make yourself perfectly at home (чувствуй себя совершенно как дома; to make oneself at home — быть как дома)," said the green girl, "and if you wish for anything ring the bell (и, если тебе что-нибудь понадобится, то позвони в звонок; to ring — звонить /производить звук/; звонить /в колокола, звонок и т. п./). Oz will send for you tomorrow morning (Оз пришлет за тобой завтра утром)."
She left Dorothy alone and went back to the others (она оставила Дороти одну и вернулась к остальным). These she also led to rooms (их: «этих» она также отвела в комнаты), and each one of them found himself lodged in a very pleasant part of the Palace (и каждый из них оказался поселенным в очень красивой части Дворца; to lodge — разместить; /временно/ поселить /у себя, на постой/; pleasant — приятный, милый; симпатичный). Of course this politeness was wasted on the Scarecrow (конечно, эта учтивость была впустую потрачена на Страшилу; to waste — расточать, тратить напрасно /деньги и т. п./; растрачиваться без пользы, пропадать попусту); for when he found himself alone in his room he stood stupidly in one spot (потому что когда он оказался в комнате один, он встал глупо на одном месте), just within the doorway, to wait till morning (как раз за дверью: «как /раз/ в пределах дверного проема» и /стал/ дожидаться утра). It would not rest him to lie down (он не нашел бы отдохновения, если бы прилег; rest — покой, отдых, сон; to rest — отдыхать, спать; давать отдых, покой), and he could not close his eyes (и он не мог закрыть глаза); so he remained all night staring at a little spider (так /что/ он провел всю ночь, уставившись на маленького паучка; to remain — оставаться; пребывать, оставаться /в каком-либо состоянии/) which was weaving its web in a corner of the room (который плел свою паутину в углу комнаты; to weave — ткать; плести), just as if it were not one of the most wonderful rooms in the world (как будто это не была одна из самых удивительных комнат в мире).

These she also led to rooms, and each one of them found himself lodged in a very pleasant part of the Palace. Of course this politeness was wasted on the Scarecrow; for when he found himself alone in his room he stood stupidly in one spot, just within the doorway, to wait till morning. It would not rest him to lie down, and he could not close his eyes; so he remained all night staring at a little spider which was weaving its web in a corner of the room, just as if it were not one of the most wonderful rooms in the world.

"Of course (конечно)," answered the girl, "if he will see me (если он примет меня)."
"Oh, he will see you (он примет тебя)," said the soldier who had taken her message to the Wizard (сказал тот солдат, который передавал ее просьбу: «относил ее послание» Волшебнику), "although he does not like to have people ask to see him (хотя ему и не нравится, когда люди просят увидеть его). "Of course," answered the girl, "if he will see me."
"Oh, he will see you," said the soldier who had taken her message to the Wizard, "although he does not like to have people ask to see him. Indeed, at first he was angry and said I should send you back where you came from. Then he asked me what you looked like, and when I mentioned your silver shoes he was very much interested. At last I told him about the mark upon your forehead, and he decided he would admit you to his presence."
Just then a bell rang (как раз в этот момент прозвенел звонок), and the green girl said to Dorothy (и зеленая девушка сказала Дороти), "That is the signal (это сигнал). You must go into the Throne Room alone (ты должна идти в Тронный Зал одна)." She opened a little door (она открыла небольшую дверь) and Dorothy walked boldly through and found herself in a wonderful place (и Дороти смело вошла /сквозь нее в Зал/ и очутилась в удивительном месте). It was a big, round room with a high arched roof (это был большой круглый зал с высоким сводчатым потолком; roof — крыша, кровля; потолок), and the walls and ceiling and floor were covered with large emeralds (и стены, и потолок, и пол были покрыты крупными изумрудами) set closely together (уложенными плотно друг к другу). In the center of the roof was a great light (в центре потолка находилась огромная лампа; light — свет, освещение; источник света: лампа, фонарь, прожектор), as bright as the sun, which made the emeralds sparkle in a wonderful manner (такая же яркая, как солнце, которая заставляла изумруды искриться удивительным образом).

Just then a bell rang, and the green girl said to Dorothy, "That is the signal. You must go into the Throne Room alone." She opened a little door and Dorothy walked boldly through and found herself in a wonderful place. It was a big, round room with a high arched roof, and the walls and ceiling and floor were covered with large emeralds set closely together. In the center of the roof was a great light, as bright as the sun, which made the emeralds sparkle in a wonderful manner.
But what interested Dorothy most was the big throne of green marble (но что заинтересовало Дороти больше всего, так это большой трон из зеленого мрамора) that stood in the middle of the room (который стоял посреди комнаты). It was shaped like a chair and sparkled with gems (он имел форму кресла и искрился драгоценными камнями; shape — форма; to shape — придавать форму), as did everything else (как и все /вокруг/). In the center of the chair was an enormous Head (в центре кресла была громадная Голова), without a body to support it (без тела, которое бы поддерживало ее) or any arms or legs whatever (или /без/ каких бы то ни было рук или ног). There was no hair upon this head (на этой голове не было волос), but it had eyes and a nose and mouth (но у нее были глаза, нос и рот), and was much bigger than the head of the biggest giant (/и эта голова/ была намного больше, чем голова самого большого великана).
